The numbers speak for themselves: Veneto is top-ranked in Italy for the production of controlled designation of origin wines (DOC wines). There are 20 DOC wine producing areas in which 19 DOC Consortium of volunteers operate and 25,500 farms listed in the register of the DOC wine vineyards.
Verona has been appointed as representative land in the Wine Capitals Global Network (Gwc) that gathers ten international cities which have in common the global recognition towards the quality of their wine production.

Verona has been chosen, not only for the international visibility enjoyed by Vinitaly, but also thanks to the wine reputation and to the know-how held by all producers.
Due to this special Verona leadership, the Chamber of Commerce, Veronafiere and the University of Verona have launched the Best of Wine Tourism, reserved to wine firms of Verona. Tomorrow, March 10th, is the last day to become ultimate Italian tourist wine company and to compare themselves with other world wineries.
The companies that will be selected and rewarded will be the ones that have realized, supported and spread the importance of landscape and geographic features, the culture and the environment. The companies that are going to participate will be internationally promoted and will be included in the "Verona Wine Tourism” Guide . More than 465 companies, among 3100 candidates, have already received this award during the first edition.
